Joseph Jakubowski, a Wisconsin fugitive, accused of burglarizing a gun shop and mailing a conspiracy laced manifesto to President Donald Trump has been captured Friday.
"What could have happened here was a mass shooting," Janesville Police Chief David Moore said. "We could not have asked for a better end."
After a ten day manhunt, authorities were notified that property owner Jeffrey Gorn spotted Jakubowski Thursday night.
“It ended just like we thought it could,” said Chief Moore. “So often in this nation these cases are solved because a citizen observed somebody or an investigative clue and called the authorities.”
Authorities said Jakubowski is being sent to Rock County for further investigation. He is currently facing burglary, theft charges and federal firearms charges. Officials said more charges are possible. He expected to make his first appearance in federal court in Madison, Wisconsin.
