Breaking News. Two bailiffs were killed and a deputy sheriff was injured in a shooting at a courthouse in Michigan. The suspect in the shooting was also killed.
The incident began around 2:30 p.m. when an inmate broke loose and grabbed a deputy's gun, authorities said.
"We don't have all the details as to what happened or whatever occurred or how he got the weapon," Sheriff L. Paul Bailey said at a news conference.
The wounded deputy was transported to the hospital and was treated in the emergency room, said Bailey.
The courthouse and the surrounding buildings were put on lockdown after the shooting.
Bailey said the identity of the bailiffs, deputy and inmate were not immediately available. He will release more information later in the afternoon.
