Two Boston police officers remain hospitalized on Thursday, after responding to a report of a domestic disturbance Wednesday.

Authorities say the two officers entered the house after an apparent argument between roommates. They were met by a man wearing body armor who began firing shots from an assault rifle.

One police officer was hit numerous times while the other was shot one or two times. Other officers that arrived to the scene, dragged the wounded officers to safety and fatally shot the suspect.

Police say both officers are in "extremely critical" condition. They haven't released their names yet. They have been described as a 28-year veteran and 12-year veteran of the department.
