Two Lake Wales police officers injured in Polk County shooting

Two Lake Wales police officers were injured in a shooting Tuesday after a 59-year-old man lured police to his home with a 911 call and opened fire.

Reading further reports, it seems that 12 officers were shot at in total so it's a wonder that only two were injured. Thankfully, they have been released from hospital now. It also turns out that the gunman, John Goepferich has two adult children who actually work at the Polk County sheriff's office. He is expected to face 12 counts of attempted murder.

Whatever the hell is wrong with some people? Call police to your home then make an attempt on their lives? Was the man after revenge or something? Did he have something against the cops? Was he mentally unhinged? Did he plan to kill himself once he'd shot the cops? I think being a cop is now more dangerous than it ever was.

Anyone that doubts the police have a tough job look at this, they go to help and end up being shot at as the victims. Another case of why people should not own guns unless they need to for work or they live somewhere where they need to defend themselves.
