Police officers and law enforcement families all came together to decorate donation buckets and to put out shirts with the phrase "#LittleElmBigHero" on them. It was all for a fundraising effort for Detective Jerry Walker.

"We have to take care of these guys." "There’s not a lot out there for officers that are injured in line of duty, or get killed. You know, he has four kids, one’s two months old. You know, there’s a lifetime of that," said Sherri Aaron, the wife of Mansfield Police Chief.

Walker, 48, died after he was shot during a standoff at home in Little Elm, Texas. Authorities say the suspect was found dead in the house several hours later.

Police officers from across the county came to help out and show their support.

"While the reason for our trip is very tragic and sad, the experience we have on this trip is something that truly reaffirms my belief in law enforcement," NYPD Sgt. Kevin Lynch said.

Detective Jerry Walker had served with the Little Elm Police Department for 18 years. He leaves behind a wife and four children.
