The Detroit Police Department began an internal investigation and also admitting mistakes were committed after a family was stuck in their house with an intruder for over thirty minutes.

Officials say police officers didn’t arrive until several hours after the call was made.

Penny Anderson stated when she and her family came home Sunday night somebody was upstairs walking around.

Her son said, “Step out mom. Somebody still in here.”

The intruder tried to go out the front door. That is when Penny, her son and grandson stopped him. However, he wrestled free and ran off.

Penny said about two hours after the call for help came in, the police officers showed up.
