Former New England Patriots star Aaron J. Hernandez hanged himself inside his cell at the state’s maximum security prison Wednesday, in an apparent suicide just five days after he was acquitted of two additional murders.
"Lifesaving techniques were attempted on Mr. Hernandez, and he was transported to UMass Leominster, where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m.," stated the correction department.
The 27-year-old former tight end was found guilty in April 2015 and was serving life without parole for killing Odin L. Lloyd in 2013.
