Four police officers in Denver were injured after being struck by a vehicle during a Wednesday morning demonstration by students who walked out to protest the grand jury's decision last week in Ferguson, Missouri.

Authorities say the incident happened while the officers were working crowd control on bicycles.

"Two of the officers suffered minor injuries, while one had serious injuries and the fourth was critical and in surgery," said Denver Police Chief Robert White.

Jerald Adams, who witnessed the incident, told reporters that a black Mercedes went up on the sidewalk and hit the officers. Adams also said it looked like the driver was aiming for the officers.

Chief Robert White are looking to see if the driver was experiencing a "medical emergency."
"We believe the vehicle that struck the officers, that driver was suffering some kind of illness," White said. "That will be part of the investigation he added."

We will continue to bring you the latest developments as they become available.

Can we please have some sanity?!! I'm just hoping that this was simply a case of losing control and was a complete accident. Unfortunately, there are a lot of hot heads on both sides of the divide and I really wouldn't put anything past anyone at the moment. The whole Ferguson story is having a negative ripple effect everywhere.

The story does not explain what happened to the driver after the incident. Was that driver taken to the hospital? Was the driver taken into custody? What was the age of the driver? Were they elderly?

This is crazy, so the guy just chased the cops and tried to run them over? Most likely on a stolen car, what a chaos.

Exactly. And on top of there being no details on the driver, it looks as if an alibi is being created to protect the driver. Why even bother to report the incident as news?

This show how people's reasoning is affected when they are in groups.
He was probably protesting all day with everyone else and when he caught himself behind the wheel, he was still with that mentality and lost it.
