Four police officers in Denver were injured after being struck by a vehicle during a Wednesday morning demonstration by students who walked out to protest the grand jury's decision last week in Ferguson, Missouri.
Authorities say the incident happened while the officers were working crowd control on bicycles.
"Two of the officers suffered minor injuries, while one had serious injuries and the fourth was critical and in surgery," said Denver Police Chief Robert White.
Jerald Adams, who witnessed the incident, told reporters that a black Mercedes went up on the sidewalk and hit the officers. Adams also said it looked like the driver was aiming for the officers.
Chief Robert White are looking to see if the driver was experiencing a "medical emergency."
"We believe the vehicle that struck the officers, that driver was suffering some kind of illness," White said. "That will be part of the investigation he added."
We will continue to bring you the latest developments as they become available.
