    Speaking spanish will certainly be a big plus, but it doesn't guarantee you a job. Make sure you are a well rounded applicant. Be in really great shape, stay out of trouble. Also do some volunteering and it's always good to do interning in some capacity.

    Choosing a major

    There are alot of good majors for law enforcement. Get at least a four year degree. Look into communications, psychology, accounting, computer science, foreign language, business. You should choose a major that will interest you.

    Battery is when you actually hit a person and assault is the attempt to hit the person. However some of the unofficial titles of code sections in some states use these terms interchangeably.

    It might depend on the agency. I know in my department they won't disqualify a person so long as your hearing is correctable to a reasonable standard like wearing a hearing aid.

    CJ or computer

    I would recommend getting a degree in the computer field, you can take a few CJ classes on the side. There alot of cases these days that involve computers. You can also use it outside of a LE career if you ever have to.

Improving your communication skills as much as possible. You have to be physically fit as you can. Having a college degree is always good...

    I never got into heavy lifting. I like to focus on some sort of circuit training with a heavy emphasis on core strength.
