The American college student who was held prisoner for seventeen months has died.
Otto Warmbier, who was held prisoner in North Korea, died after returning home to Ohio with a neurological injury.
"Surrounded by his loving family, Otto died today at 2:20 p.m.," Fred and Cindy Warmbier said in part in a statement.
The 22-year-old died was detained in January 2016 while he was visiting North Korea. He had been sentenced to fifteen years of hard labor for allegedly stealing a propaganda banner from his hotel.
