Arizona Detention Officer killed

PHOENIX. A detention officer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Arizona was shot on Thursday.
The shooting occurred around 4 a.m. as the officer was in his driveway of his home while he was getting ready to go to work. The detention officer was rushed to a local hospital but died a short time after, Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said.
"It's really a whodunit," Crump said.
Neighbors witnessed a man running away from the scene after they heard the gun shots.
Police set up a near the home and had a k-9 dog and tactical teams conducted a search.
The Sheriff's Office declined comment and to give out the name of the officer until a news conference set for Thursday afternoon.
