A Baltimore police officer responding to a carjacking was shot in the wrist Wednesday night in South Baltimore.

Around 11:25 p.m., two plain clothes officers in Cherry Hill, approached a car that was suspected in a carjacking.

As they got closer to the vehicle, the shooter opened fire. The suspects then drove away and when they reached a cul-de-sac, they exited the vehicle and ran off.

Police say the officer is recovering at a hospital. Two women who were sitting inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, were not injured.

Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said they are searching for three suspects who are involved in the incident.
