Authorities have located the body of a West Jordan police officer who had been missing for nearly a week was found dead in Central Utah on Sunday morning.
According to West Jordan Police Sgt. Dan Roberts, they located the blue pickup truck that belongs to Jedediah "JR" Steadman at the bottom of a cliff.
Sgt. Dan Roberts said it seems that Officer Steadman, who was last seen leaving his house Tuesday after having an argument with his wife missed a turn, went off the road and then drove off a cliff.
The West Jordan Police Department released a statement, offering their condolences. "Our sincerest condolences go out to the Steadman family, who are asking for privacy as they mourn their loss," the statement read. "As a Department, we will warmly remember Officer Steadman for his many years of dedicated service to our community. Today we lost another one of our own." "The Steadman family joins our department in expressing profound gratitude for the immense support extended to help find JR."
Officer Jedediah "JR" Steadman, 34, was a seven-year veteran of the police department. He was recently promoted to detective in the property crimes unit.
Authorities say the incident is still under investigation.
