A bomb squad searching a Costa Mesa house where authorities say a man blew himself up in an apparent suicide have discovered three additional explosive devices inside.
Many agencies, including the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Costa Mesa Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County Fire Authority all remained on the scene. Authorities had sixteen homes evacuated that are near the Costa Mesa home.
Authorities said that two of the devices, have been detonated. By 8 a.m. they were working on the third device.
Neighbors told KTLA-TV, this began Sunday evening when the 52 year-old man laid down in his front yard and was not responding. The man refused any medical help, didn’t want to go to the hospital and then he went back inside his home.
Neighbors said about two hours later there was an explosion.
