Johnson County Sheriff’s Master Deputy Brandon Collins was killed Sunday, September 11, 2016.
Deputy Collins was conducting a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. While he was sitting in his patrol car, a suspected drunken driver slammed his pickup truck into the back of the cruiser, engulfing both cars in flames.
The driver of the pickup truck ran from the scene by foot, however was arrested a short time later. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and it unclear what charges the driver will face.
Deputy Brandon Collins, 45, served with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office for twenty-one years. He is survived by his wife, and two daughters.
