It is with a saddened heart we announce that Deputy Sheriff Jesse Valdez, III passed away when his patrol car was struck head on by another vehicle at the intersection of East Wallinsville Road and Honesuckle.
The driver who struck Deputy Valdez swerved across the center line hitting him head on. It is believed that the driver of the suv may have been under the influence of narcotics. The driver had been released from prison 3 weeks earlier stemming from similar charges. Deputy Jesse Valdez was brought to Memorial Herman Trauma Center where he succumb to his injuries.

Deupty Sheriff Jesse Valdez III was with the Harris County Sheriff's office for 11 years. Deputy Valdez is survived by his 10 year old son and mother.

It is disgusting that good people are usually the ones to be killed when morons decide to get coked up or whatever, then go driving. The driver needs to be permanently banned from driving and spend some time for manslaughter.

Another police officer killed, this time by a drug addict, it's harder and harder to be a police officer, risking their lives every single day.

True this could have happened to anyone, but it's really a shame that it happened to a police officer. I wonder if it was random, or if this guy ,who was apparently on drugs at the time of the accident, did it with clear intent to take out a cop.
