Maury County Sheriff’s Deputy Jimmy Tennyson passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 from injuries he sustained after a single-vehicle crash.

According to authorities, the incident happened Friday around 7:30 a.m. Tennyson, who was a school resource officer for the department was on his way to McDowell Elementary High School. They say his patrol car left the roadway, went down an embankment, and hit several trees.

Tennyson, 64, was taken to Maury Regional Hospital and then to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The police department stated Tennyson died with family by his side.

Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Tennyson was in law enforcement for thirty years.

He leaves behind his wife, four children and four grandchildren.
