Do certain departments have more psychological evaluations?

I wonder if certain departments like those who deal in special victims like rapes and serial killers have more intensive therapy to help them cope with the trauma? I can imagine many would be scarred by what they have seen and what they have to deal with and perhaps need more therapy or access to it.

I would imagine that this is the case. Officers have to see and hear about some pretty gruesome things and it is unreasonable to expect anyone to be able to cope with this without having had the appropriate training. Certainly in the UK, compassionate leave and therapy is available to cops who would benefit from it.
