Convicted Charleston church shooter, Dylann Roof, has pleaded guilty to state charges of murder.

He shot and killed nine people, all African Americans. He admitted to authorities that he committed the killings in hopes of igniting a race war.

Roof was convicted on thirty-three federal charges, and has received the death penalty.

The verdict leaves the 23-year-old waiting for execution in a federal prison. It also pardons the victims and their families the burden of going to a another trial.
