Police have arrested the boyfriend of a 23-year-old single mother former Miss New Jersey Teen USA contestant after parents found her strangled to death in the same room as her baby Wednesday afternoon, according to sources.
Mary Greff and her baby both lived in the Waldwick home with her parents. The parents were out running errands in the morning and when they came home they made the horrific discovery.
"They left in the morning, and it wasn't until they returned when they realized that they had not heard from their daughter," Bergen County Prosecutor James Molinelli said. "So that's when the father went upstairs and found the body."
Authorities say Mark Spatucci, 22, allegedly went to the Greffs’ residence Tuesday night. He entered the home through a second floor window into the victim's bedroom. Once inside the bedroom the victim and suspect began arguing. Police say they believe the baby and Greff's parents were sleeping at the time.
Police had said that there were no signs of forced entry into the house.
Autopsy is still pending, but police believe the cause of death is asphyxiation.
Authorities have charged Mark Spatucci with murder, felony murder, burglary, endangering the welfare of a child and hindering apprehension. He is currently in the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack on $2,000.000.00 bail.
