Family and many supporters gathered on Monday to celebrate the life of Michael Brown, a black teenager slain by police on August 9 in Ferguson, Missouri.
Michael Brown was eulogized at the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church.
Brown's closed bronze casket was surrounded by pictures of him as a young child up to the most recent photo of him graduating from high school.
The church was full with thousands of residents of the teenager’s hometown. There were also civil rights activists, politicians and musicians that attended the service.
Family and friends remembered him as a "gentle giant". Messages were delivered to remember Brown not with violence but with peace.
"All of us are required to respond to this. And all of us must solve this," said the Reverend Al Sharpton.
"This is not about you. This is about justice. This is about fairness. And America is going to have to come to terms when there's something wrong," he added.
The investigation into the 18-year-old death is still ongoing. Federal government has joined the investigation and is conducting an independent analysis of the incident alongside local authorities.

This was a travesty that would not have escalated to this if the officer used more self control. I cannot condone the shooting of a teenager who has his hands up in a surrendering posture. What was in this cop's mind that would allow him to just shoot an unarmed man multiple times? That is cold blooded and he should be fired and arrested.
