A 28-year-old Pennsylvania woman, who was handcuffed, allegedly stole the police car she was in and led police officers on a high-speed chase Wednesday night.

Authorities say Roxanne Rimer from Beaver Falls, Pa., was being detained on shoplifting suspicions at the time of the incident.

Police say Rimer managed to slide open the glass partition that separates the front and back areas of the patrol car, and then climb from the rear seat into the driver's seat.

“With her back turned and her hands cuffed behind her back, she manages to put it in gear and drive, said Center Township Police Chief Barry Kramer. "And from what we can gather, she drove at very high speeds with that position, somehow manipulating the gears and steering the wheel. Thank God no one else was hurt.â€

She lead officers on a high speed chase through several small towns about 40 miles outside of Pittsburgh. The chase lasted about a half-hour, and at times the suspect reached speeds up to 120 mph.

Chief Kramer said Rimer eventually abandoned the patrol car, took off by foot and then got into another vehicle that led police on another chase.

"She then either jumped out of that vehicle or the vehicle dropped her off in Aliquippa, and Aliquippa police picked her up still in handcuffs,†said Kramer.

Rimer was taken to Beaver County Jail, she if facing several charges, including aggravated assault. Chief Kramer said the arresting officer found suspected heroin needles on her.

So it seems that cowboys do still exist! Now they are mostly female. Can you imagine, she is already in trouble and she then steals a car! I can't believe it. A highspeed chase in handcuffs? She must be out of her mind! She needs to be locked up, but not in a prison.

This girl had to be on some type of drugs to pull a stunt like this. Driving while handcuffed? At speeds of 120 mph at times...I can't even drive at that speed with both hands

Thank God no one was injured. That was a very dangerous stunt and in all likelihood, she was on drugs at the time and that posed a serious threat to other road users and pedestrians.I just hope she undergoes counseling and put on rehab.

How crazy can one be? She is probably one of those citizens who has been in and out of trouble with the police for years.
The police should make her pay for any damage done to their automobile.

She looks incredibly intoxicated not to mention like she's on other drugs that are a little bit more potent than alcohol. It is unfortunate but when people like this get their hands on drugs they use a spiral out of control and an incredibly negative pattern. But stealing a police car that's a little bit over the top.

How on earth could she drive if she was handcuffed from behind and why didn't the police notice anything when she pulled the partition? Why did they leave the keys in the ignition? I think there will be questions of incompetency and also protocols asked too.
