Lieutenant Brian Rice, the highest ranking Baltimore officer charged in the death of Freddie Gray was acquitted today. Freddie Gray died of spinal cord injuries that he allegedly sustained while riding in a police transport van.

Lieutenant Brian Rice was found not guilty on all charges. Rice faced charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office. He opted for a bench trial over a jury trial.

Lieutenant Rice was the fourth of six officers charged to go on trial in the 2015 death. The three earlier trials had resulted in two acquittals earlier this year, and a mistrial at the end of last year.
