I need to find a way to lose fat

I'm 17 and I weigh 217 pounds. My body fat percentage is about 29%. I need to find a way to lose fat, and gain muscle. I need some advice on what my diet should look like and what my exercise routine should be to lose weight and gain muscle. I would like to be a police officer one day, I want to get into shape as soon as possible.

Eat lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, salads. Include a few servings of fresh fruit daily. Stay away from fried foods and processed foods. Do you belong to a gym? If so ask a trainer to help you set some kind of routine. Remember go easy when you first start your exercise program.
