A man in North Carolina is under arrest, after police caught him dragging a safe behind his vehicle.
Ryan Mullins, 22, raided a pharmacy in the town of Swansboro in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Authorities said it all began around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, when Mullins allegedly smashed in a window at the drive-through of a pharmacy, located at 1106 Main St. Extension.
After breaking the window, he entered the building and wrapped a nylon rope to the safe. He then drove off with the hundred pound safe containing prescription drugs trailing behind him.
Mullins had driven about two miles with the safe dragging behind his vehicle before police caught him.
A Swansboro police officer spotted the suspect around 7:30 a.m. as the officer pulled out in front of Mullins vehicle on Swansboro Loop Road. In his rear view mirror, the police officer saw an object swinging behind Mullins’ car.
The officer pulled over so Mullins could pass. He then saw the safe being pulled behind Mullins' car, authorities said. The incident was caught on the dash cam.
“We believe the purpose behind the break-in was to get controlled substances,†Swansboro Public Safety Chief Bob Ritchie said.
Mullins is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on multiple charges including safecracking, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and trafficking of opium or heroin, according to the Onslow County Clerk of Court office.

The problem with abusing drugs is that it inhibits rational thinking. The safe could have fit comfortably in his car; therefore his forty days were up and the police had to catch up with him. The only good thing about this story is that he is going to a place where he will get help to overcome his problems with abusing drugs.
