A Maryland state trooper was injured Sunday night around 10 p.m by a driver who drove into a marked off area and crashed into the rear portion of the patrol cruiser.
First Sergeant Robert Cummings was working traffic control on a Harford County highway construction zone.
He was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. He was released from shock trauma Monday morning.
Cummings is a 14-year veteran of the force assigned to the Communications Support Division.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Christofe Taylor, 28, of Logan Township, N.J., has been charged with various traffic and drug offenses.
