My former roommate was caught carrying my firearm

I bought a firearm a couple years ago to keep in the apartment for protection. When I moved out I left the firearm with my roommate. My former roommate was caught carrying the firearm that was registered to me. I just found out he is a convicted felon, will I be held reliable for him possessing this weapon. What will happen to me?
