A female police officer has sued her superior for harassment. She alleges that the Police Director repeatedly harassed her. Some of the offensive comments he made were:

"You remind me of a porn star" and
"I won't be responsible if you drag me in the house and seduce me until I am a mess"

The veteran officer claims she filed a complaint with the township in August over the repeatedly inappropriate comments, and was then targeted with additional harassment and an internal investigation,
Typical. When the person doing the harassing is boss . . .

It is harassment and inappropriate to say these kinds of things to anyone especially a co-worker. Some people don't have much intelligence and common sense and it's worrying that they are in a position of authority. There are many of these cases and I am sure they are all warned of what is acceptable and what isn't though some just have ego problems and wish to push their luck or think different rules apply to them.

We do not know the extent of their relationship, whether they have a love or hate relationship. They are by no means friends I think though. Because if they were, the woman would just dismiss it as a joke. But even if they were friends, there is a difference between a joke and an assault. That police director absolutely has no professionalism at all, or is just a jerk, because maybe the officer was having a bad time and was just pushed to the limit.

Either way, the director shouldn't have done that. He deserves to be punished in some way.

Harrassment is much more prevalent in a male-dominated profession like the police. I think that the police director deserves to be punished, the female officer did the right thing in bravely pressing charges against her boss.

I see that the township have refused to comment on whether the boss has been suspended. It's an absolute disgrace that her life at work was made even harder after she filed a report and if everything that has happened is true, I'm glad she's begun a lawsuit and wish her every success.

What a pig he should not be a police director with that attitude towards women. He needs to be expelled.

I'm glad that this is getting attention. The message needs to be clear and loud: no sexual harrassement in the work place. No, it's not "compliments" and no it's not "innocent flirting/teasing". There is a time and a place for friendly teasing, and this time and place is never at work with the people you are in charge of.

Especially when the workplace operates on trust and mutual respect like in a police force.

Yea I agree. A comment like that from a superior officer is highly inappropriate and definitely can be considered as sexual harassment.

A former supervisor once told me that you need two people to witness the incident. This keeps it from being your word against theirs. I sympathize with the lady and I do believe that the majority of these cases have merit. I don't know if they will try settle out of court to keep down the negative publicity or take their chances. But it would be very beneficial to either if they had people who witnessed these incidents.

That's why I hate the bosses/superiors because some of them just belittle you and make unnecessary comments about your looks, your life and whatnots. Very annoying.
