A police officer suffered a serious leg injury during a protest event in Seattle Monday afternoon. Officials said the officer suffered a broken leg that was related to the protests, but did not release any other details.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. as protesters were roaming the streets near Seattle Center and South Lake Union.
Demonstrators shouting "black lives matter" walked into traffic and eight of them connected themselves together with PVC pipe and laid down on the roadway. After the protesters ignored the officer's warnings to get up, six of them were taken into custody.
By 4:30 p.m, police cleared the protesters from the roadways were opened to traffic. Authorities say none of demonstrators were injured during the incident.
Officials say total of nineteen protesters were arrested by the time the march ended. Protesters claim they were performing "civil disobedience" to protest recent police violence.
