A Maryville, Tenn, police officer was fatally shot Thursday afternoon after responding to a domestic disturbance call.
Authorities have identified the officer as Officer Kenny Moats, 32, Maryville. Officer Moats was struck by a single bullet to the neck, just above his bullet-proof vest.
“We ask our citizens to remember this officer’s family. He has three small children. It’s a very trying time for his family. It’s a trying time for the men and women of the Maryville Police Department. It’s a trying time for the law enforcement in this community,†said Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp.
Officer Kenny Moats was a nine-year veteran of the Maryville Police Department.
