Police Officer Myron Jarrett passed away Friday, October 28, 2016.

Officer Myron Jarrett was hit and killed by a man in a hit and run accident.

Authorities say the driver was arrested a few hours later.

Officer Jarrett, 40, served the Detroit Police Department for eight years and was assigned to the 12th Precinct.

"He gave his life, giving back to the community," said Officer Kwame Powell. "We used to fight to work with him. That's how much everyone loved Jarrett."

He leaves behind his wife and four children.
