Micah Brienen posted on Facebook a picture showing a form that was brought home by her niece. It is from Killearn Lakes Elementary School, which is part of the Leon County School District in Florida.
In Florida, state law allows "each district school board may adopt rules to require, in all of the schools of the district, programs of a patriotic nature to encourage greater respect for the government of the United States and its national anthem and flag," however it requires that public school students can be excused from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance if they get written consent from their parents.
