A peaceful protest in Paris turned to riots after authorities say the police officer’s alleged rape of 22-year-old black man was an accident.
Thousands of people were enraged by the alleged rape of a suspect by a Paris police officer set fire to cars and damaged many businesses overnight after the peaceful demonstration turned very violent.
"Several vehicles, including a media truck, were set on fire and police officers had to intervene to rescue a young child trapped in a burning vehicle," stated the Paris police.
Prosecutors have charged one police officer with rape. Three others were charged with assault of the man identified only as "Theo."
