Phoenix Police Officer David Glasser succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained on Wednesday after responding to a burglary in progress.
Authorities said the homeowner called 911 to report that his son was stealing firearms from the home. When police arrived on the scene they found the son sitting in a van in the driveway. Police say the suspect opened fire from inside the van, striking Officer Glasser. Other officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
Officer Glasser was with the Phoenix Police Department for twelve years. He is survived by his wife and two small children. Officer Glasser is the 38th Phoenix Police officer to die in the line of duty.
