Police Officer Support

Cities across the nation including in Seattle and Birmingham are showing support for police officers. There have been of course numerous protests against police. However after the death of the 2 officers in NYC, there is some outpouring of support for police in some cities in the nations. The chant is "Police lives matter." There are some protesting and they are saying, "All lives matter." Both statements to me are true. We seem to do too much finger pointing. Individuals make mistakes. I am firm believer that there is no race or group of people who are all bad. It is the person who individually decides to participate in negative actions.

I agree. This all or nothing stance that people are taking is driving me crazy. We are having problems here in Cleveland where a young boy was shot. The young boy was waving a fake gun that looked real in a public place. The community is looking to hang this poor officer out to dry. It's sad because it was a kid and that family is hurting, but the officer was doing his job protecting himself, his partner, and his community. Our police officers make tough choices every day and have families that fear for them too. They do their jobs for us and for them. People have forgotten this, and they have forgotten than if those same police officers did not make those hard decisions everyday and did not prevent a larger public tragedy that they would be calling on those officer wondering why they didn't act.

I agree, people make mistakes and that goes for any race, and all life matters. It's sad that this country can't solve simple problems like race, but this new generation is not buying into the hate, which is a great thing. It's only one race and that's the human race. we are all connected.

They are doing a good thing supporting the police. The police have a difficult job where getting killed is in their line of work. The Government in my region is promoting community policing so that citizens can be at ease with the police. There are some great policemen out there who do their very best every day to ensure that law and order is observed. They do it for the benefit of everybody.

Here in England, we would say the situation is "six of one and half a dozen of the other". All lives are important, be they criminals, police or just everyday people like you and me. What I want to know is why on earth was a young boy allowed to have a fake gun and to take it out in public? The parents really should have known better.
