Purchasing From an Out of State Gunshop

I have friends in North Carolina (I live in NJ) that own a gunshop. I'm visiting them this summer. Is it permissible to puchase a handgun or shotgun from that state and then come back home to Jersey?

You can buy the firearm from there, but the firearm has to be shipped to a licensed dealer that lives in your state. You might want ask your local PD because it could vary from state to state.
