Question about a search

I was sitting in a parking lot with a friend of mine. We were just hanging out drinking our coffee. As were sitting there two police officers came over to us and said they witnessed a drug transaction. The one officer starts searching me, he took my wallet out of my pocket and goes thru it. I never consented to the search. They told me they I had bought marijuana. How can they just open up and search through my wallet like that? It doesn't seems like he has the right to search me. The officers didn't find anything on us, because there wasn't any transaction going on.
