Roommate needs help

My roommate has been going through some psychological issues for the past couple of years, and lately she's been threatening to kill herself. I am really worried about her, she doesn't have any family so there isn't anybody for me to contact. I keep telling I will bring her to see a psychiatrist but she refuses to go. Next time when she threatens to kill herself can I call the police? Will they be able do something, can they legally take her somewhere to get help?

Yes you can call the police. The person won't be arrested or charged with anything, however the officer will take the person into custody and bring them to a locatation to get treatment.
