Sergeant Shawn Miller was killed in a motorcycle crash. The tragic accident happened while Sergeant Miller was leaving Dallas County Courthouse after testifying in a hit-and-run case.
The 26-year veteran of the West Des Moines Police Department was killed Wednesday, August 3, 2016.
"He was not just an officer that came to work and did his eight hours and went home, he was heavily involved in the department," West Des Police Sergeant Jason Bryan said. "He was a great guy, a great officer . . . everyone here in the department has been touched by Shawn."
Sergeant Shawn Miller leaves behind his wife, Shannon, and their three children.
