The state Attorney’s office have announced that North Miami police Officer Jonathan Aledda is being charged with attempted manslaughter and culpable negligence for the July 2016 shooting.

The shooting incident happened last July during the day. Behavioral therapist Charles Kinsey was sitting with a 27-year-old man that was in his care. He was trying to convince the man to walk back to the group home for mentally disabled adults.

North Miami Police showed up because they received calls about a person that could be suicidal, holding a silver weapon.

The video from the scene shows Kinsey lying on the ground next to his patient. His hands were up in the air, right before the officer shot him.

Charles Kinsey said he was shocked that he had been shot in the leg, "I'm saying, 'Sir, why did you shoot me?' and his words to me, he said, 'I don't know.' "
