The 14-year-old teenager who police say killed a beloved math teacher at a Massachusetts high school admitted to authorities that he slashed her throat with a box cutter, a source said.
A source close to the investigation said Philip Chism admitted to police that he followed Colleen Ritzer into the ladies restroom, hit her in the face and slashed her. The suspect allegedly stuffed the teacher's body into a recycling bin and rolled her body out of the school and dumped her in the woods behind the school, the source added.
Chism changed his outfit after killing the teacher and went to see a 4:30 p.m. showing at the movie theater.
The community paid tribute to the slain teacher on Wednesday night with many residents holding a candle light vigil at the school where she died. A lot students dressed in her favorite color pink and described her as a 'brilliant ray of light'.
'She was such a great teacher and she worked really hard. She had set some math quizzes that day and I guess she had stayed late to mark them,’ one student said.
