A Texas sign company trying to get extra attention for its business has created a truck decal featuring a distressed blonde woman lying on her side in the bed of the truck bound and tied.
Tons of people are slamming the decal's manufacturer as "disgusting, sadistic and misogynist" to the company owner's surprise.
"I wasn't expecting the reactions we got, nor do we condone this by any means," Hornet Signs Co. owner Brad Kolb said.
Kolb explains that the sticker was put on an employee’s truck to show how realistic their decals are. A female employee volunteered to be tied up and photographed for the promotional material.
“It was more or less something we put out there to see who noticed it,†Kolb said.
Many people who viewed the decal said they even called the police when they saw it, thinking a woman was truly in trouble.
The company's Facebook page was filled with comments regarding the decal.
One person wondered if this stunt is going to upset local police. “How many false 911 calls have been made because of these things?"
"I think your signs are super realistic, and if you'd promote them more appropriately not with images of snipers and tied up women I'd probably buy one!" a woman wrote, referring to another design by Hornet Signs.
"It was just something we had to put out there to see who notices it." Kolb also added that since the controversy, he has seen a rise in decal orders.
