A large crowd gathered in the Canadian High School to pay their respects to Tecumseh Officer Justin Terney, who lost his life in the line of duty.
Officer Justin Terney, 22, was shot and killed Monday, March 27, 2017 while pursuing a fleeing subject.
The incident began when Officer Terney initiated a traffic stop. According to officials, a suspect ran from the car during the stop and Officer Terney pursued him on foot.
A gunfight followed and Officer Terney was shot several times in the lower extremities. He was able to return fire, hitting the suspect. He is currently in the hospital.
Officer Terney had been with the Tecumseh Police Department, Oklahoma, for one year.
