Bobby Smith, 66, a former Louisiana State Trooper passed away October 2, 2016.
Smith was a Louisiana State Trooper when he was blinded by a shotgun blast during a 1986 traffic stop.
He went on to become a psychologist and an author who would help counsel law enforcement officers.
"Words are inadequate to describe the life, the love and character of Bobby," stated on LSP's Facebook page. "In the 80's, Bobby was shot in the face by an assailant on a traffic stop. He lost his sight, his career and his marriage. Never one to succumb to adversity, Bobby earned a PhD, authored books and set out on a path of helping others."
