Authorities in Boston say two police officers were hospitalized after being attacked while serving an arrest warrant to a 19-year-old man for defaulting on court appearances.
Police went to the apartment Monday morning to serve a warrant to Woobenson Morrisset. According to the police report, the officers found Morrisset hiding in the back stairwell.
As the officers were about to handcuff Morrisset he attacked them, Police Commissioner William Evans said. Then six teenagers related Morrisset came to his aid and "kicked, punched, and choked" the officers, added Evans.
Commissioner Evans said the officers used pepper spray to stop the attackers. He also said neither officer drew their firearm.
Woobenson Morrisset is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. Lorcen Morrisset, 18, who was allegedly involved in the attack will also be arraigned Tuesday.
A 17-year-old boy and four girls ages 13, 14, 15, and 16, who allegedly attacked the two officers face assault and battery on a police officer and several other charges in juvenile court.
The officers were taken to the hospital. They were treated for undisclosed injuries and later released.
