Two suspects were taken into custody after several carjackings, shootings and a chase.
The wild incident lasted about 90 minutes. Police say it began at a traffic stop on lookout mountain. A man and young woman in a white Crown Victoria reported as a suspicious car. The police officer took the driver's license and headed back to his vehicle.
Jacki Kelley, Jefferson County Sheriff's Officer, stated, "when he went back to his car to start to run the name of that person, the white Crown Vic took off."
About 30 minutes later police got a call saying the pair carjacked a Subaru with three people inside.
Officer Kelley said, "the male and female got out of that white Crown Vic with weapons and took their car by force".
After that authorities said the two suspects broke into a home, then stole a SUV. The homeowner called 911 and told the operator that the pair claimed their vehicle broke down nearby. They broke a window before fleeing the scene, police said.
The man, was armed with an assault rifle and a handgun, and the woman ditched the stolen ride and tried to break into someone’s home, authorities said.
Officer Kelley said "he finds his way into the house I don't know if he broke in or went in through an unlocked door. He backed out of the garage taking out their garage door and stealing their Envoy"
Soon after that the two suspects got stuck in the mud. They took off by foot and eventually were separated. Police picked up the woman first.

Helicopter video then shows the man waving a rifle at cars on Interstate 70. A deputy ordered the suspect to drop his weapons and then wrestled him to the ground with the assist from a few Samaritans.
The two suspect have not been identified yet. Authorities said charges were still pending early Thursday.
