Two men hired to clean out a vacant house in Spring Hill, Florida, thought they had just found a mannequin.
Israel Lopez, 50, and Adam Hines, 33, thought the body swinging from the garage was
a mannequin left behind as a sick prank. So they cut it down and mistakenly dumped it at a landfill.
A landfill worker saw the “mannequin†and knew right away it was actually a decomposed human body and called police.
When Lopez returned to the landfill to drop off more junk he was stopped and questioned by police along with Hines and the property owner.
"While we were talking with the individuals at the solid waste transfer station, the county workers, they actually informed us that the person who had dumped the body had returned with more trash or garbage,†said Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis.
“They advised they had cruelly interacted with the individuals who had dumped the trash that included what we believed to be this body."

The homeowners of the property had also seen the body hanging the day before. They told police they also thought it was a cruel joke played by the former tenants who were upset about being kicked out.
“That this was in his opinion and he told us the opinion of his coworker, as well as the property owners that this was a Halloween type prop or mannequin that was
left hanging in the garage as a cruel hoax by the former tenants for the landlord,†said Sheriff Al Nienhuis.
Authorities learned former tenant Jeremy Witfoth, 33, had apparently committed suicide in the home several weeks earlier after his family was evicted.
On one of the walls in the garage, he had left a suicide note, police said.
Authorities say his body was in a 'state of decomposition similar to mummification'.
Nienhuis said the two workers will not face any charges because it was an honest mistake.
He said the cleaners thought the house smelled horribly but they thought it was the dead rodents they found inside.
"I think it's important to realize that most people, they either have seen someone who has very recently passed, or they see them at a funeral home," Nienhuis said.
"Obviously, this body was not anything close to either of those. It was somewhat mummified."

This is a very sad story; this man killed himself because he was evicted. I wish he sort help instead of taking this drastic step to end it all. I think how to ask for help should be taught in school so that people do not believe that asking for help is a weakness. May he finally find peace in eternal rest.
