Tragic, police dogs are some of the nicest and most well behaved dogs in the world. They are fiercely loyal to their handlers and are often great with children. My Aunt and Uncle were both part of K-9 units at one point in their careers and so I can provide a bit of insight on how they behave at home. Most K-9 dogs wear a special work collar that they are trained with that indicates when they are working and when they aren't, as soon as that collar comes off they are incredibly playful and loving. Put it back on and they can be super serious. Its amazing to witness the transformation as you would swear that they are separate dogs.

That is so sad I really hate to hear that. I love my dogs so much. I know the officer, and his family are suffering right now.
