Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar said a woman was killed during a search warrant in the town of Gifford.

Sheriff Loar said as the SWAT team prepared to serve the warrant, shots were fired at the deputies from inside the home. Three Swat officers returned fire and the 21-year-old woman inside the residence was killed.

"Early this morning, our SWAT team took fire while attempting to serve a high risk search warrant in the Gifford Area, stated Sheriff Deryl Loar." "Our SWAT team is to be commended for their bravery this morning as they again put their lives on the line to apprehend career criminals."

During the incident a deputy was grazed by a bullet in the shoulder. A second deputy was shot in his ballistic vest and thankfully avoided injury.
